Soil On-Specimen Measurement
The GCTS Soil Deformation Devices (DEF-AXC & DEF-SRCP Series) provide precise measurements of axial and average radial strain on specimens.
The DEF-AXC Series features upper and lower LVDT support rings compatible with submersible or standard LVDTs. The split support rings are clamped with rubber bands, preventing rotation and allowing lateral expansion. For soft specimens, clamps can be used on the top and bottom platens to avoid damage.
The DEF-SRCP Series includes a circumferential roller assembly with anodized aluminum and Teflon rollers for smooth displacement. It features an integrated submersible proximity sensor with a 5 mm range and can be adjusted for specimens with diameters from 35 mm to 150 mm by adding or removing assembly links.
The Large-Scale DEF-SRCP-600 combines DEF-S1610 Axial Deformation Gages with DEF-SRCP-600 circumferential gauges. Each DEF-S1610 has a 150 mm radius LVDT holder and rod extension for measuring axial strains, avoiding platen end effects. The DEF-SRCP-600 includes a 10 mm range water-submersible LVDT, with three positional settings providing various deformation ranges. Multiple DEF-S1610 devices can be used for comprehensive axial deformation measurement.
