The GCTS Triaxial Test Systems for Soils are designed to automatically perform triaxial shear tests on cylindrical soil samples. These systems are also capable of testing numerous other soil characteristics, such as resilient modulus, cyclic strength, liquefaction, and complex modulus. There are a large number of systems available to meet all specifications.


The GCTS Triaxial Testing Systems for Soils feature:

  • Complete "turn-key" automation
  • A high pressure triaxial cell that can support pressures from 1000 kPa to 3000 kPa
  • Specimen diameters from 70 mm to 1000 mm
  • Closed-loop digital servo control of the axial load actuator with load capacities from 25 kN to 3000 kN
  • Dynamic frequencies up to 100 Hz
  • Systems available upon request to meet specific needs for specimen size and load capacity
  • Other systems available to perform triaxial tests on Rocks

The GCTS Triaxial Test Systems can be used to perform many different tests, including triaxial shear, liquefaction, resilient modulus, cyclic strength, and complex modulus.


The basic systems can also be upgraded in order to test unsaturated soils and frozen soils. True triaxial testing systems are also available to provide increased control over the stress paths of the soil specimen during shearing. Systems are available to perform these true triaxial tests on both cubical and hollow cylindrical specimens.
